There are many ways you can help save the reef
To optimise data collection, CoralWatch offers a FREE initial Coral Health Chart to anyone who wants to be involved in reef monitoring.
CoralWatch data is currently collected in 79 countries, which is 80% of world’s countries containing coral reefs!
The data is collected with a simple and cost-effective research tool to monitor reef health – the Coral Health Chart.
Every year CoralWatch sends >150 FREE initial Coral Health Charts around the world. These charts are waterproof and can only be printed by CoralWatch to ensure colour consistency is maintained.

The CoralWatch Ambassador Program trains motivated community members to become stewards of their reefs now, and into the future.
The CoralWatch Ambassador Program trains motivated community members to become stewards of their reefs now, and into the future. Ambassadors are volunteers and include students, teachers, retirees, rangers and other individuals. Through an intensive multi-day workshop, and ongoing support, Ambassadors will gain the skills, knowledge and resources to become effectual environmental leaders within their communities. In May 2017, CoralWatch trained the first 15 QLD Ambassadors, with another 16 Ambassadors following in 2018.
Over the last year, with the assistance of Ambassadors, CoralWatch quadrupeld the number of events and outreach numbers.
To continue this program and support our Ambassadors outreach activities we need your help.

From experience, having a ‘real’ scientist in the classroom is a great learning experience and a successful approach to engage students with the reef.
In 2018, CoralWatch visited > 17 schools getting > 4200 students and 399 teachers involved in science.
From experience, having a ‘real’ scientist in the classroom is a great learning experience and a successful approach to engage students with the reef.
Our virtual reality headsets helps to bring the reef to the classroom and provides students with a better understanding of the science behind the current global bleaching events. The student can simply enjoy the sights and the sounds of the underwater world or can be placed in a virtual reef environment and will be given the opportunity to learn about reefs and coral bleaching. Students will also get the opportunity to become a citizen scientist collecting virtual data using the Coral Health Chart on a virtual reef.
To visit school classes we need assistance to cover time, materials and travel.
