Monthly Awards 2018

June, July, August

With appreciation of International Year of the Reef (IYOR) 2018, CoralWatch is assigning a monthly award during 2018. This is a great opportunity to thank an organisation, dive centre or individual for all their CoralWatch efforts.

Our June award, for best ‘CoralWatch in Action’ photo has been assigned to Rachel Perry from Brisbane. His photo shows a diver focusing on collecting data, not noticing the leopard shark. Location: Manta Bommie, North Stradbroke Island, Australia.

The July award was given to Project Abroad Thailand as conservation group, that collected and uploaded the most data in the first half of 2018 – 927 corals in Thailand.

In August the IYOR award went to Matthew Flinders Anglican College in Buderim, for the school that collected most data in 2018 so far. Students went on a school field trip and surveyed the health of 1234 corals on Lady Elliott Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
